Hello, and welcome.
If you’ve found your way here, chances are you’re the parent of a clever, curious child who’s navigating the heady world of KS2 learning. Maybe they’re bounding ahead in reading but stumble when it comes to writing. Maybe maths homework sparks more groans than growth. Or maybe - just maybe - you’ve got the 11+ exams quietly looming in the background like an uninvited dinner guest.
Wherever you and your child are starting from: you’re in the right place.
Who Am I?
I’m a teacher and tutor who helps children in Years 4–6 grow their skills and confidence in English, Maths, and Reading. Yes, we aim for strong results - SATs and 11+ included - but results are just the by-product. What I’m really here for is
this:
To make tricky concepts clear and simple
To turn “I can’t” into “I’ll try” (and then, usually, “I did it!”)
To give children the confidence to express themselves — in writing, in problem-solving, and in life
And whether your child thrives best in 1:1 sessions or in the buzz of a small group, whether online or in person - I make sure learning feels focused, flexible, and human.
What’s This Blog All About?
This isn’t just a place for tips and worksheets (though you’ll get plenty of practical activities you can actually use). It’s a space where parents can:
Discover creative ways to help with reading, writing, and maths at home
Learn how to support exam prep without the pressure
Find fresh ideas for sparking imagination and deeper thinking
Pick up strategies that build not just knowledge, but resilience
Think of it as your go-to guidebook for KS2 learning, written with warmth, humour, and a dash of magic.
Why Stick Around?
Because each week I’ll be sharing something new:
A creative challenge (the sort your child might actually want to do)
Practical advice for navigating SATs and the 11+ without meltdowns
Book recommendations that build vocabulary and fire imagination
Gentle reminders that confidence grows one small step at a time
And if, along the way, you decide your child would benefit from some extra support? You can choose from personalised 1:1 tutoring or dynamic small-group sessions - both available online and in person.
A Final Word From Me...
Children learn best when they feel safe, seen, and supported. That’s the heart of what I do as a teacher and tutor - and the spirit behind this blog.
So make yourself at home. Explore the posts. Try the activities. Share them with your child. And if you’d like a little extra support along the way? You know where to find me.
Here’s to words, numbers, and the wonderful journey of helping children shine.
